Chennai, Oct 15:
The Tenkasi District Crime Branch police have registered a land grabbing case against DMK Kadayanallur MLA T M Rajendran and five others over the alleged fraudulent transfer of 9.7 acres of ancestral land belonging to a differently abled person.
The FIR was registered on October 9 following a complaint alleging that the property was transferred and registered using forged documents between 2008 and 2019, when the DMK was in power.
Those named in the case include Rajendran, his brother Chelladurai, Village Administrative Officer Arulmari, Zonal Deputy Tahsildar Mohideen Pattani, land survey officer Usha of Kurukkalpatti and the sub-registrar of Melaneelithanallur.
The complainant, N Murugaiah, a resident of Akkamalai in Coimbatore district, said the ancestral property was situated at Thirumalapuram village in Sankarankovil taluk. The land, measuring approximately 9.7 acres, was jointly owned by his late father and uncle.
According to the complaint, Murugaiah’s brother Sekar allegedly sold the property to Rajendran and Chelladurai without obtaining the necessary documents, including their father’s death certificate and legal heir certificates. The complainant also alleged that the transaction was carried out without the consent or signatures of the rightful heirs.
The property was subsequently divided into housing plots and sold to third parties, the complaint alleged.
Murugaiah further claimed that details of the disputed property were included in the asset declarations submitted by Rajendran while filing his nomination papers for the 2026 Assembly elections.
The police have registered the case and further investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraudulent transfer and the roles of those named in the FIR.
