Colombo, Oct 15:
Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship, with Kusal Mendis set to lead the side in his first assignment as Test captain.
Mendis, 31, took over the Test captaincy from Dhananjaya de Silva, who stepped down to pave the way for the next generation. De Silva, 35, has retained his place in the squad and will continue to provide experience to the team.
Batter Pathum Nissanka has also been named in the squad, subject to being declared medically fit. He has been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the ODI series against England last month.
The two Tests will begin on November 9 in Rawalpindi, with the second match scheduled in Lahore from November 17. Sri Lanka are currently seventh in the World Test Championship standings with a points percentage of 33.33, while Pakistan are at the bottom with 4.63.
