In a Demi-Official letter to Dr.Jaishankar, he sought his personal intervention in the matter of the detention of 25 fishermen from the southern Thoothukudi district along with their three boats by the Maldives Coast Guard in the early hours of October 13.
Vijay requested the EAM to kindly take up the matter with the Maldives Government through appropriate diplomatic channels and facilitate the early release and safe repatriation of the fishermen and their boats.
“Your personal intervention would provide much-needed reassurance to the affected families and the fishing community”, he added.
