London, Oct 16:
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle made their first joint public appearances in Britain since returning to the country, visiting three charities in Nottingham as they seek to renew their public and charitable engagement in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited organisations supporting young people, families and communities facing economic hardship. Nottingham holds personal significance for the couple, as it was the location of their first joint public appearance after announcing their engagement in 2017.
Their itinerary included the Community Recording Studio, the Himmah food poverty charity and youth organisation Epic Partners. The engagements focused on community support, youth development and initiatives aimed at helping vulnerable families.
The visit featured elements associated with their former royal engagements, including the use of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles and a pre-arranged media pool documenting their activities.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as working members of the British royal family six years ago and subsequently established an independent life in the United States. Their return to Britain for the joint engagements has renewed interest in their relationship with the country and their future public activities.
The Nottingham visit also allowed Meghan to reconnect with women associated with the Hubb Community Kitchen, a project she supported following the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. The couple’s engagements highlighted their continuing involvement in charitable work, particularly initiatives focused on young people and families.
