Chennai:
The Tamil Nadu BJP has condemned the state government’s decision to grant 60 days’ parole to five life convicts in the 1998 Coimbatore serial bomb blasts case. Party chief spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy criticised the decision and demanded that the parole orders be revoked, citing the gravity of the attack, which killed 58 people and injured more than 250. The five convicts were reportedly granted parole on personal and health grounds after serving over 25 to 30 years in prison. The decision has triggered a political debate, with the BJP opposing the move and a TVK legislator welcoming it.
