YouTuber Jason Samuel has been arrested by Kanathur police in connection with the death of financial influencer V Harish, who allegedly died by suicide following an online dispute.
Harish, 26, had been posting videos on Instagram about financial investments and savings. According to the police complaint filed by his father, J Vinayagam, Jason allegedly posted defamatory videos about Harish and subjected him to online threats, causing him mental distress.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Jason under the abetment of suicide provision and began an investigation. Harish was found dead at a rented residence near Muttukadu, and his body was sent for a postmortem examination.
The arrest follows allegations that the online dispute and videos targeting Harish contributed to his death. Jason had earlier denied cyberbullying Harish, maintaining that his criticism concerned the latter’s credentials and authority to provide financial advice. The investigation is continuing.
