Chennai, Oct 26:
CREDAI Chennai, the association representing real estate developers, has constituted an Anti-Corruption Committee and introduced a standard operating procedure (SOP) for reporting alleged corruption, coercion and demands for undue gratification in the sector.
The initiative aims to promote transparency and accountability in real estate development by providing a formal mechanism for members to report instances of alleged graft and improper demands. The SOP has been communicated to members through an official letter.
The association said the initiative was aligned with the Tamil Nadu government’s stated commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption under Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The move comes amid efforts to improve accountability in interactions between real estate developers and government departments.
The committee is expected to provide an institutional framework for addressing complaints and encouraging members to report alleged wrongdoing. The SOP is intended to bring greater clarity to the reporting process and help the association respond to concerns raised by its members.
The initiative marks an industry-level effort to strengthen ethical practices in the real estate sector. Further details on the committee’s composition, complaint-handling procedures and safeguards for complainants were not specified in the available report.
