NEW DELHI:
District courts in Delhi are scheduled to remain closed on Tuesday as lawyers called a one-day strike over an alleged assault involving advocate Lalit Bansal and a police officer in the Shahdara area.
The protest follows reports that Bansal sustained serious injuries in the incident. Lawyers have demanded action against the police personnel concerned and called for accountability over the alleged assault. The dispute has prompted a confrontation between sections of the legal fraternity and the police, with the strike expected to affect court proceedings across the capital.
