New Delhi:
Global greenhouse gas emissions are projected to fall by only 6% below 2019 levels by 2035 if countries implement their current climate commitments, a United Nations report warned on Tuesday.
The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change report said emissions could decline by 9% if conditional commitments are also fully implemented. However, much deeper cuts are needed to limit global warming. Based on the pledges examined, global temperatures could rise by an estimated 1.7 to 2.3 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. The report called for additional emissions reductions to address the growing climate challenge.
