The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave petitioners 10 days to respond to the Election Commission’s affidavit defending the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The Election Commission maintained that the exercise was legally authorised and that its orders were unanimously approved by all three members. It denied changing statutory Form 6, used for voter registration. The court also issued notice on a fresh petition by Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen, who alleged that changes were made to Form 6 during the Bihar SIR without the court’s approval.
