Chennai,Oct 29:
AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will chair a meeting of the party’s district secretaries at its headquarters in Royapettah here on November 1, amid efforts to strengthen the organisation following its electoral setbacks.
According to an announcement issued by the party headquarters, the meeting will be held at MGR Maaligai on Avvai Shanmugam Salai at 3.30 pm on Sunday. All district secretaries have been asked to attend without fail.
The meeting assumes significance as the AIADMK reviews its performance in the 2026 Assembly elections and the recent by-elections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, where the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam secured victories.
The leadership is expected to discuss the reasons behind the party’s electoral performance and steps required to strengthen its organisational machinery at the district, constituency and booth levels. Mobilising cadres, improving coordination among functionaries and consolidating the party’s support base are likely to figure in the discussions.
The outcome of the recent by-elections is also expected to form part of the review, particularly as the AIADMK seeks to improve its prospects in the remaining Assembly by-elections.
The party is also expected to deliberate on its political strategy in confronting the TVK government and responding to developments in the State’s political landscape.
The meeting comes at a crucial juncture for the AIADMK, which has to rebuild its electoral position while maintaining organisational unity under Palaniswami’s leadership. The party’s ability to address local-level concerns, retain its cadre base and establish a clear political narrative will be important in its efforts to regain ground.
The November 1 meeting is expected to provide the leadership with an opportunity to obtain feedback from district secretaries and identify areas requiring immediate organisational attention. The party headquarters has not disclosed a detailed agenda beyond the meeting announcement.
