Megastar Chiranjeevi along with his son, global star Ram Charan, held an official meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad to discuss pressing challenges confronting the Indian entertainment sector. The interaction centered on the rapid, unregulated proliferation of generative artificial intelligence and deepfake tools, which have increasingly been deployed to replicate artists’ likenesses, voices, and creative outputs without consent. During the dialogue, the actors underscored the severe reputational, financial, and personal vulnerabilities that digital fabrication poses to cinema personalities across the country, calling for comprehensive statutory frameworks and digital deterrents to curb the illicit generation and dissemination of synthetic media.
Chiranjeevi emphasized that without clear legal boundaries, prompt takedown protocols, and stringent penal provisions for malicious cloning, the technology risks inflicting irreversible damage on artistic integrity and personal rights. Union Minister Amit Shah assured the delegation that the central administration takes digital misuse seriously and is actively framing policy responses to address AI manipulation. Acknowledging the legitimacy of their apprehensions, he reaffirmed that the government is evaluating legislative and regulatory remedies to protect citizens and creative artists alike.
