Chennai, Nov 6:

To accommodate the surge in passenger traffic ahead of Deepavali, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced extended evening peak-hour train operations across its networks on November 5 and 6.

Under the revised schedule, evening peak-hour services across the Green, Blue, and Yellow Lines on Thursday (November 5) have been extended until 9:00 PM, instead of the regular 8:00 PM cutoff. On Friday (November 6), evening peak-hour frequencies will commence an hour early at 4:00 PM and run through 9:00 PM.

CMRL has also extended the departure timings for the last terminal trains on Friday night. Services on the Green Line and Blue Line will depart terminal stations until 12:00 Midnight instead of 11:00 PM, while the last departure on the Yellow Line has been pushed to 11:00 PM from the usual 9:00 PM. Transport officials advised outbound passengers to utilize the extended Metro timings for seamless connectivity to regional bus and railway transit hubs.
