Mumbai, Nov 7:
National jewellery sales on the occasion of Dhanteras generated an estimated business of approximately Rs 60,000 crore, reflecting a value growth of 15% to 20% over last year, according to preliminary industry assessments released by the All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC).
While physical gold volumes remained largely flat compared to the previous year’s festive period, higher retail valuations drove total turnover. Retail outlets opened from 8:00 AM across key commercial markets, supported by early-month festive bonus disbursements and steady salary cycles. Gold traded at approximately Rs 1,42,000 per 10 grams this year, compared to Rs 1,15,000āRs 1,20,000 in 2025 and Rs 80,000 in 2024.
GJC Chairman Rajesh Rokde said,Ā “The total gold business across India on the occasion of Dhanteras is estimated to be approximately ā¹60,000 crore, according to our preliminary assessment. Compared to last year, the business is expected to register a growth of around 15ā20% in value terms. If we look at the business in terms of volume, it is expected to remain almost at the same level as last year, while in value terms, we are witnessing an increase of approximately 15%. Certainly, this is a very encouraging start for the jewellery industry. The Customer is God, and it is their trust, confidence and love that will continue to take our jewellery industry to greater heights.”
