Chennai: A special summary revision of electoral rolls with 1 January 2019 as the qualifying date will begin tomorrow with the release of draft rolls in all 32 districts of Tamilnadu.

The draft rolls will be released in all districts in the polling stations, which are mostly school premises. The rolls are also posted on the elections.tn.gov.in portal.

Those who complete 18 years of age on 1 January 2019 and those whose names are not included in the rolls can apply for inclusion during the revision exercise.

Online filing is also possible by going to the website www.nvsp.in. The size of electorate, which was 5.86 crore in January this year, has shrunk marginally to 5.82 crore now following updation between January and August, an official release said.

As per the final rolls of Special Summary Revision, 2018, published in January this year, the total electorate was 5.86 crore, comprising 2.90 crore men, 2.96 crore women and 5,197 of the third gender.

Following updation from this January till today, 1.82 lakh inclusions and 5.78 lakh deletions (due to reasons like death, shifting and duplicate entries) were made.

As per the draft of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls updated till August, the total electorate in Tamilnadu is 5.82 crore, of which men were 2.88 crore, women 2.94 crore, and third gender, 5,184.

Special Campaigns will be conducted on Sundays in September and October (7 and 14 October) at the designated locations (polling stations) for inclusion, deletion and modification, the release said.
