Chennai: Several controversial photos have emerged from Puzhal prison in the recent past, with the latest being a video of the inmates preparing biriyani inside the campus.
The video has gone viral on social media and is put out by various news outlets. News Today has verified the truth behind the video clip.
A police source said,”The video is an old one found in the memory card seized from prison inmate Mohammed Riyas. He is now transferred out of Puzhal jail. He is a fundamentalist and is sentenced to seven years’ jail term.”
Speaking about the video, he said,”For Ramzan, a bunch of prisoners had asked the jail authorities permission to prepare biriyani. They said they needed the ingredients and that they would prepare it themselves. Taking their welfare into consideration, we gave them permission.”
The official clarified that only on a few occasions do they give such liberties.
The memory card seized by the prison warden from Mohammed Riyas had pictures of the prisoners walking around the jail campus in fashionable clothes and eating homemade food. The photos led to a controversy.
