Chennai: K Senthil Velu, a postal small savings scheme agent, in the suburban area of Selaiyur has been named as the best performer in the locality for the fourth consecutive year. He recently received the award from Kancheepuram District Collector P Ponniah.
Speaking to News Today, Senthil Velu said he has been in the field for the past 16 years.
“Things have changed drastically over time. More people are now aware about the benefits of opening a postal small savings scheme. I have so far reached out to over 10,000 customers,” he said.
He further said when compared to banks, the postal small savings scheme has many benefits.
Talking about his journey, he stated,”I was working in Saudi Arabia for close to 10 years and then came back here. My father was in this field, so I too was interested in taking up this job. This gave me an opportunity to interact with many people and within a few days, I started liking this work,” he added.
He noted that he makes processes easier for senior citizens, by reaching their place, explaining about the schemes and completing all the formalities himself.
“With the advancement of technology, especially WhatsApp, I have been able to reach out to more people,” he added.
