Chennai: Tamil Thalaivas succumbed to its second consecutive defeat at home against Telugu Titans 33-28, at the Pro Kabaddi League held here at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
For Titans it was Rahul Choudhary who was good with his raids, earning an overall tally of nine points. He was well supported by the crowd who cheered whenever he scored points. For Thalaivas, Ajay Thakur too earned nine points through his raids but he lacked the team’s support especially in defence.
Thalaivas started with an early lead but once Ajay Thakur was out, Titans rode on that momentum to inflict an all-out and earning the lead. From then on there was no looking back as they maintained the lead. AT the end of the first half, the score was 17-11 in favour of Titans.
Like the previous game against UP Yoddha, Tamil Thalaivas came back into the game in the second half, particularly with Ajay Thakur scoring off successful raids and aided by Amit Hooda’s defence.
But the performance of Telugu Titans defence with Abouzar Mighani and captain Visual Bharadwaj operating from the corners was successful in the tackle that ensured the team’s first victory of the season.
In the first match of the day, Dabang Delhi and last year runners-up Gujarat Fortune Giants played out a thrilling tie with the scores 32-32.
For Delhi Chandran Ranjith was the star as he scored 10 raid points, most of them coming in the second half that helped Delhi, which was trailing right from the start to equal the scores.
