Chennai: Even before the excitement of watching Rajinikanth starrer ‘2.0‘ in theatres on first day could come down, came the shocking news of it being uploaded illegally on the Internet. It was out on the rogue website Tamil Rockers within minutes after the first two shows of the film were completed.

Remember the producers Lyca had moved the Madras High Court to prevent any pirated version of their film being leaked online a couple of days ago. They had asked HC to prevent the website Tamil Rockers from releasing the film online. The producers have also listed names of over 12,564 websites that can potentially host the pirated version of the film.

Within minutes of the leak, Lyca Productions urged people to watch the movie in theatres and asked them to report any links that they might find by mailing them to [email protected].

“Hard work of 4 yrs, crores of money, efforts of 1000s of technicians – all to give you a visual spectacle you can watch, love and enjoy in THEATRES! Do not spoil the experience. SAY NO TO PIRACY!,” they tweeted.

Sources say that though restrictions can be put to prevent illegal video recording of a movie in theatres in a particular State, a film can been illegally recorded in another State and uploaded from anywhere.

A producer on condition of anonymity, said, “Where did the Tamil Rockers gathered guts to announce in advance in their Twitter account that they would leak the illegal version after the first show of the film? And what was shocking was they have uploaded 2,0 film in their site stating that for better visual experience watch in theatres in 3D format. I strongly feel some insiders in the industry are helping them out.”

“Tamil Film Producers Council should act swift and with the help of State government find out ways to put an end to Tamil Rockers’ menace,” he added.
