Chennai: The severe cyclonic storm Phethai, which is 320 km from Chennai, is moving northwards, away from the capital of Tamilnadu.
According to the Met department, Phethai is moving at a speed of 23 kmph and is headed for the Andhra Pradesh coast. But it is likely to lose its intensity and cross the Andhra Pradesh coast this afternoon.
The cyclone made temperatures dip in Chennai yesterday and the cold draught had people shivering. But right now the sun is out and the weather is pleasant.
Chennai was cheated of even the mild showers that the Met department had forecast for the city.
