Chennai: Seeking to put an end to reports about his political ambitions, popular Kollywood star Ajith Kumar today stated that he had no such thoughts and was even careful to ensure there was no political undertones in his films also.

“Everyone knows that I am determined that there are no political colours attached to me in my personal capacity or in my films. My job is to act in movies,” the ‘Viswasam‘ actor had stated.

He said that even after this there wereĀ reports linking his nameĀ with certain political happenings. Such reports will create unnecessary apprehension among people with the general elections around.

“Even after this decision of mine, there are reports linking my name or that of my fans with certain political happenings. These will create an apprehension among people that I have now got political ambitions, and that too with the (general) elections around” he said.

A couple of years ago, the actor complained to then chief minister, the late M Karunanidhi, that actors were being forced to take a stand on sensitive political issues, and this caused a flutter back then.

In a statement today, AjithĀ said, “I have no direct or indirect interest in politics. My best link with politics is casting my vote as a citizen by standing in the queue.” He further added he has never asked his fans to vote for or support a particular political party. He too has his own individual preferences in politics but doesn’t impose them on anyone, nor does he allow others to do that to him. He wanted his fans also to be so.

He said he was focused on his career in films and has not made any political statements and was against any indecent criticism of other actors on social media. He further urged his fans to focus on their education and profession and be good citizens.

He said that this was how his fans would show their love for him. Live and let live, he stated.
