Chennai: Actor and president of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan will launch the Pondicherry unit of the party later today.

Sources say that Kamal Haasan will hold discussions with senior leaders of the party at his office in Alwarpet today and appoint office-bearers for the Union Territory.

Remember the actor launched Makkal Needhi Maiam at a public meeting in Madurai on 21 February last year. He also unveiled the party flag there. The flag is symbolised by six interlocked hands, meant to represent co-operation between the southern states of India. He has been touring Tamilnadu and meeting people regularly.

The actor even took part in gram sabha meetings. On the professional front, Kamal is acting in Indian 2, directed by Shankar. The movie went on floors recently.
