Chennai: Three boys in the age group of 15 to 17 have been arrested for stealing gold jewellery worth Rs 2.33 lakh from a house at Alapakkam, Wednesday.
The trio have been involved in theft cases in the past and were lodged in a juvenile home in October 2018.
On 26 February, A Sathishkumar of Balamurugan Nagar, Alapakkam lodged a complaint that more than nine sovereigns of gold were robbed from his house.
He told police that his wife left for work at 8.30 am and returned at 5.30 pm. He was in Villupuram when the incident took place.
Police said that the boys gained entry into the house after removing a window AC. Apart from gold, silver jewellery was also missing.
Police nabbed the trio and recovered the stolen items. They were produced at Thiruvalluvar Juvenile Court on Wednesday. In October, the boys, who hail from Maduravoyal, broke into a locked house and decamped with Rs 50,000.
