Sri Padmavathy Thaayar Samedha Sri Venkatesa Perumal temple in Mugalivakkam, filled with the fervour of spirituality and divinity, is all set to host the Sri Anjaneyar Thirumanjanam on 28 March at 6.30 pm here.
Special abishekams will be performed, and devotees are welcome to take part and offer pooja items, such as milk and turmeric.
The temple is being run by Sri Periyazhwar Bhakta Jana Sabha. Talking about its specialties, archagar Raja Iyengar says, “This temple is more than 100 years old and the first kumbhabhishekam was performed in 2004 for Lord Perumal and in 2008, the deity of Padmavathy Thaayar was installed. The rajagopuram was built in 2014 and along with it the second kumbabhishekam was performed.”
The main deities here are Venkatesa Perumal and Padmavathy, and the presiding deities are Sridevi Boodevi Samedha Srinivasa Perumal, Lakshmi Hayagreeva Ramanujar, Mahalakshmi, Narasimha Perumal, Kannan Venugopalan, Chakrathaazhwar, Yoga Narasimhan, Baktha Anjaneyar and Karudan. According to the temple officials, Lord Ranganathar, fondly called pallikonda perumal, will be installed soon.
A number of festivals, such as Tamil New Year, Aani Thirumanjanam, Aadi Pooram, Aavani Avittam, are celebrated in a grand manner here. All Purattasi Saturdays are special. Abishekams are performed for Perumal and annadhanam is provided on the third Purattasi Saturday. Apart from this, Lakshmi Gubera pooja, Karthigai Thaila kaapu, Vaikunta Ekathasi, Hanumath Jayanthi, Goodaravali Oonjal Sevai are some of the highlights.
For students to gain good knowledge, discourse on sahasranama parayana is held for Hayagreevar. “On all Fridays, kumkum pooja is performed for Mahalakshmi, and tulsi and karkandu pooja is conducted for Perumal. Those who want to get married and those who are childless can perform poojas here and their wishes will get fulfilled,” Raja adds.
