After a good show in Meesaya Murukku, music composer-actor Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi takes to big screen again with Natpe Thunai.
If the former was about a group of young engineering graduates who want to make it big in music, the latter revolves around hockey. A cocktail of sports, friendship and humour, Natpe Thunai manages to strike a chord with audience.
The movie revolves around Prabhakaran (Hiphop Tamizha). His only desire in life is to settle down in France. Hence he prefers to stay in his uncle’s house in Pudhucherry. He is passionate about hockey.
Twists and turns reveal that Prabhakaran is an international player, who is facing a ban from playing. There begins all drama when Sports Minister Harichandran (Karu Palaniappan) wants to encroach a hockey field in the area. Now the onus is on Prabhakaran and his local team coach (Harish Uttaman) to save the hockey turf from being taken away. They are forced to play a match and victory would mean, the ground will be with them forever.
Adhi has done his part well. Shouldering the whole burden, he delivers a decent show. Anagha as Adhi’s lover is bubbly and energetic. Harish Uthamman gets to do a meaty role and done full justice to it. However it is Karu Palaniappan who steals the show with his bad acts. His body language as a greedy politician deserves special mention.
The one-liners that evoke humour and the scenes that speak about politics in sports have added strength to the film. Adhi’s background score makes it an engrossing watch. Though the movie proceeds at a leisurely pace, the execution makes it an watchable fare.
