Chennai: V Ganga Sridhar Raju slammed an unbeaten 125 to guide Grand Slam to 239 for four against Alwarpet on the first day of the TNCA First Division League here on Saturday.

The southpaw became the first batsman to cross the 1000-run mark this season, and his knock has so far consisted of 10 fours and four sixes. Elsewhere, MCC’s S Sureshkumar scored an unbeaten 133 (284b, 20×4), his third ton this season, to help his team reach 221 for four against MRC ‘A’.

In a low-scoring match, last season’s runner up Globe Trotters was bundled out for 103 against CromBest with left-arm spinner R Alexandar taking five for 35. In reply, CromBest fared even worse getting dismissed for 87 as Trotters’ skipper Monish Satish scalped six wickets for 35. In its second innings, Trotters was 68 for three when play ended with an overall lead of 84.

Globe Trotters 103 in 33 overs (R Alexandar 5/35, S Mohanraj 3/24) & 68/3 in 22 overs vs CromBest 87 in 33.1 overs (Monish Satish 6/35, L Sathiyannaarayan 3/22).

Grand Slam 239/4 in 90 overs (S Lokeshwar 43, V Ganga Sridhar Raju 125*) vs Alwarpet. Young Stars 215/7 in 90 overs (U Vishal 84, Adithya Ganesh 93, P Saravana Kumar 3/27) vs Jolly Rovers.
