Chennai: Timely steps taken by officials of the Electricity Board, came of huge help to residents of Station Road, situated near Mambalam Railway Station recently.
Narrating what had happened, V Krishnaswamy, secretary of SBI Colony Residents Welfare Association, said, “There was a transformer in our colony erected about 35 years ago, that catered to various establishments, including the ones on Station Road. As it had become too old, and was giving out fumes, resulting in frequent power failures, we took up this issue with Murugan, Assistant Executive Engineer, West Mambalam EB Office, a few days ago.”
“He immediately swung into action and arranged for a new transformer. He also ensured the required logistics to transport the equipment from the head office in a short span of time.
A team of eight persons from the EB office too worked untiringly and finished the replacement work, much to the satisfaction of all of us here,” he added.
