Chennai: Karnan Kabbadi Kuzhu, a local sports forum, is the talk of the town. Run by a couple, Saravanan and Vijayalakshmi at Sankar Street, Chrompet, it recently made the neighbourhood proud by winning gold at the RGOI Rural Games – National Federation Cup – 2019, held last week at Gujarat.
Speaking to News Today, Vijayalakshmi said, “The victory was expected. Our students had trained well. We even had mock competitions in our playground two weeks before the tournament, where players from Thiruneermalai, Hasthinapuram and nearby areas came and participated. Our aim is to make students reach great heights. We are working towards it.”
Other than this, she also handles free tuition classes for deserving children, along with her husband.
Regarding this, she said, “I have been coaching children for the last three years on all subjects from class one to eight.”
On her future plans, she stated, “I want to make every student successful. For that they need proper guidance and support. We under the banner of our forum, will provide them all the guidance they need. With respect to sports, we are planning to send our wards to various other State and national-level events. Until then, we will train them.”
