Chennai: A man has been arrested for murdering his co-worker in a fit of rage at Kolathur, Sunday.
According to the police, the victim identified as T Manikandan (35), a native of Thoothukudi, had come to the city along with his friend Murugesh (31), also from the same place.
The duo were employed by one Anthony in a scrap shop at Madhanakuppam, Service Road, Kolathur. The two men lived in the shop while the owner lived in a separate portion with his family.
On Sunday, Anthony gave them their salaries and the duo spent it on drinking alcohol.
An altercation broke out between them. Murugesh suspected Manikandan of reporting about him to Anthony. When the fight got out of hand, Anthony stepped in and asked the duo to retire for the day.
However, at midnight, in a fit of rage, Murugesh took a wooden log and beat Manikandan to death.
Hearing the screams, Anthony came and found Manikandan in a pool of blood. He died on the spot. Police arrested Murugesh.
