Chennai: When the going gets tough, the tough get going is the saying and it is true with regard to 13th Main Road, feel most of the residents in Anna Nagar.

Parthasarathy from Anna Nagar West says, “This road witnesses considerable amount of traffic daily and the reason for that is the importance of the stretch. It is an arterial road that connects Anna Nagar West, Thirumangalam and Mugappair.”

Residents of Anna Nagar West and Villivakkam and other areas reach 100 Feet Road through this road daily in order to access other vital areas of Chennai, says Pandiarajan.

Tamilvanan, says, “There is no traffic regulation here. It puts motorists and pedestrians in trouble. I find it difficult when I take this road.”

“Hapazard movement of traffic instills fear among vehicle-users and walkers. Accidents are on the rise. People come in large numbers to shop here. As a result, we can see huge traffic,” says, Gayathri, a college student.

Sathish, a regular shopper, says, “Those who come to shop here move at their will ignoring traffic rules. They park their vehicles wherever they please.”

Speaking to News Today, a traffic policeman said, “The Metro water work on 100 Feet Road is in progress. So the vehicles are diverted through 13th Main Road. This causes huge traffic on this road. When the metro water work is completed, we will allow vehicles on 100 Feet Service Road and this problem will be solved.”
