Chennai: The fights between fans of actors on social media had taken several ugly turns in the past, but things reached a new high with a fan stabbing another at Puzhal here two days ago.
While the victim, Uma Shankar, a die-hard fan of actor Ajith, is undergoing treatment, the accused is Roshan, a hardcore Vijay fan.
Both of them were daily wagers and lived in the Sri Lankan refugees camp at Puzhal.
Police said, Roshan often badmouthed Uma Shankar for being a fan of Ajith which irked him and in turn Uma Shankar too spoke badly about Vijay.
Even as the duo had been at loggerheads, the trigger for the assault took place after Uma Shakar allegedly teased Roshan’s wife.
An enraged Roshan attacked Uma Shankar with a machete. Uma Shankar was administered eight stitches on the centre of his head. Police have arrested Roshan.
