Chennai: After the Triple Talaq bill, scrapping of Article 370 and giving more powers to NIA, there seems to be more in the pipeline from the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who stormed back to power for the second consecutive time in May this year.

According to a report, the NDA government at the Centre is likely to bring a bill to prevent religious conversion. Quoting sources, the report in Zee News said the BJP-led government may bring the anti-conversion bill in the next session of Parliament.

Sources were quoted as saying that the government has already started preparations for it and discussions are under way to bring the bill that might prevent any kind of religious conversion.

This comes shortly after the conclusion of the budget session of Parliament wherein the government passed key bills like Jammu and Kashmir Re-organisation Bill, which bifurcates the state into two Union Territories – Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, and Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, which criminalises triple talaq.

Both bills were passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha amid uproar from the Opposition. While the Opposition questioned the manner in which Article 370 was abrogated, it opposed the clause of sending the husband to jail in cases of triple talaq.

The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die and Speaker Om Birla and Upper House Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said the recent session was one of the best in the history of Parliament.
