Chennai: The Madras High Court today issued notice to the Election Commission and candidates of other parties who contested on the DMK and the AIADMK symbols during the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Notices have been issued to the two Dravidian parties too, said TV reports.

When a plea which wanted to declare the victory of four candidates of other parties who contested on DMK symbol came up for hearing, the Election Commission reportedly informed the court that as per rules, member of a party cannot contest on another party’s symbol.

According to the reports, the Judges wanted to know whether it would not amount to fraud if a non-member is allowed to contest on a party’s symbol.
