Chennai: Former MLA and leader of the Republican Party of India (RPI) C K Thamizharasan today met actor-politician Rajinikanth at his Poes Garden residence and held discussions for over one hour.
Sources say that he discussed in detail about the current political situation in Tamilnadu with Rajinikanth with Assembly elections to happen in 2021.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, Rajinikanth said he is disappointed about one thing, after his meeting with district secretaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram. The meeting came almost after two years since he first announced the timeline for his party’s launch.
Without divulging much, he said, ”We discussed many issues. Personally, I am disappointed about one thing. I shall tell when the time comes.”
Rajinikanth reportedly sought an opinion from RMM district secretaries whether it would be acceptable if someone else becomes the Chief Minister instead of him after the 2021 Assembly elections. Rajinikanth is believed to have said that he wants to work for the welfare of the people and he would not hold any government positions as Chief Minister.
According to sources, there was a lot of opposition from the district secretaries and they all refused to accept this proposal from their leader.
