Spike of Covid-19 cases in Chennai, Chengalpet

Chennai: The city has sounded an alarm by recording 23,298 Covid-19 patients. As expected, the locality of Royapuram has 4,023 cases.

The neighbouring Chengalpet district too today witnessed a huge increase in coronavirus cases, sources said. Officials believe that the way to beat the virus is to carry out aggressive testing.

A press release from the Chennai City Corporation shows an area-wise break up of Covid-19 figures in which four localities have hit 2,000 plus cases.

After Royapuram, Tondiarpet is a high risk zone , where the virus has been spreading fast. There are 3,019 persons with the viral infection.

Another area where the spread is quick is Teynampet with 2,646 cases. Kodambakkam, another red zone area has 2539 cases.

Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, a containment zone, has hit a mark of 2,273 cases. In Anna Nagar, 2,068 had tested positive for the viral infection.

Adyar has 1,325 cases of Covid-19. There are a total of 1,088 Covid positive persons in Valsaravakkam, 828 cases in Ambattur and 870 patients in Thiruvottiyur.

There are 650 patients in Madharavam, 412 in Alandur and 421 in Perungudi and 420 in Shollinganallur. Manali has the least number of cases with 343 patients.
