Chennai: Taking note of coronavirus outbreak, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has decided to suspend all the international flight operations in the country till 31 July .
Earlier, the aviation regulator had cancelled the international flights till 15 July. However, the DGCA may permit international flights on some selected routes during this period.
On Friday, the DGCA issued a circular extending the suspension till 11.59 pm on 31 July. “The international scheduled flights may be allowed on select routes on case-to-case basis,” said the aviation regulator.
Meanwhile, chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI) had said India is in talks with the US and Canada and the countries in European and Gulf regions on establishing individual bilateral bubbles which will allow airlines of each country in the pact to operate international flights.
“I am sure there would be a positive outcome of the talks with the US, Canada and with the Gulf countries and the negotiations are going on,” Arvind Singh said.
The international passenger flight services in the country will resume in a phased manner during ‘Unlock 2.0’, the ministry of home affairs said on Monday.
