R S Bharathi

Chennai: In a visible change in its stand, the DMK, whose leaders are known for their anti-Hindu comments and atheistic views, today condemned YouTube channel Karuppar Koottam for its video on Kandha Sashti Kavasam.

The party’s senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP, R S Bharathi said, “denigrating Lord Muruga is strongly condemnable.” He also distanced the party from Karuppar Koottam.

“Some people are linking the DMK with Karuppar Koottam. We are no way linked to them. This is a false campaign and we will face it legally,” he said and added that there are over one crore Hindus in the party.

It may be noted that the BJP had organised widespread protest all over Tamilnadu demanding action against the channel and immediate arrest of all involved in the crime.

It was alleged that the channel Karuppar Kootam insulted the faith of Hindus by uploading a video with dubious claims about devotional song Kanda Sashti KavasamĀ Ā in praise of Lord Muruga by uploading an episode under the title Aabasa Puranam Series – Kandha Sashti Kavasam – Kathakalatchebam, in which ‘derogatory’ remarks against the Hindu deity were made.
