Chennai: Ahead of the crucial election for the party’s general secretary and treasurer posts, DMK president M K Stalin today chaired a meeting of district secretaries.

According to sources, Stalin chaired the meeting through video conferencing from the party’s headquarters Anna Arivalayam in Chennai and various crucial issues were discussed.

The process to file nominations to contest for the two top level posts of the DMK- general secretary and treasurer- started Wednesday morning.

Sources said chances are bright for Durai Murugan and T R Baalu, both party veterans, to be elected unanimously as the general secretary and the treasurer, respectively.

The DMK has convened a virtual meeting of the party’s general council on 9 September to elect new general secretary and treasurer for the party.

The general council of the DMK will meet via video conferencing on 9 September to elect the party general secretary and treasurer, its president M K Stalin announced on Tuesday.
