Chennai: Congress floor leader Ku Selvaperunthagai has urged the PMK to reconsider its alliance with the AIADMK and join the DMK front.
Welcoming Chief Minister M K Stalin’s announcement to construct a memorial for “fighters of social justice’, Selvaperunthagai said, ‘You have to reconsider your decision. You should ponder on who stands by you and who expresses their voice in your favour.”
Soon after the CM’s announcement, a PMK delegation led by G K Mani called on Stalin and thanked him.
Making a Statement Under Rule 110 in the State Assembly, Stalin said the memorial will be constructed at Villuppuram at an estimated cost of Rs four crore.
Following suggestions from T Velmurugan of TVK and G K Mani of PMK. the Chief Minister also assured that a government job would also be given to one of the family members of the victims based on their educational qualifications.
Meanwhile, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss welcomed the Chief Minister’s announcement of building a ‘Mani Mandapam’ (memorial) in Villupuram.
In a statement, he termed it as the biggest struggle in India for social justice and said, through the announcement, the Tamilnadu government had given it recognition.
