Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has said the DMK government will reach out to all State governments on its stand on abolishing NEET and conducting admissions to medical courses on the basis of Class 12 marks, thereby creating a scenario where NEET is completely done away with.
Stalin made an emotional appeal to students tormented by the matter of appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to undergraduate medical courses. His plea followed reports of a third case of suicide in a week related to the controversial exam.
In a video message, Stalin said he was heartbroken after yet another medical aspirant, T Soundharya, had died by suicide โ the third such death this past week.
The Chief Minister accused the Union government of being ‘cold-hearted’ on the issue of NEET, despite it having many confusions.
‘I beg of you, please do not end your lives. Nothing is impossible for you. Study with that confidence. Parents, too, should instill self-confidence in children and not stress them out,’ he said.
