Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin has promised the State Assembly that his government would not spare anyone who commits wrongdoing even if they belong to the DMK.
‘I promise that this government will not spare anyone who is hiding. They will be brought to the book. Rule of law is working in Tamilnadu. Even if those from the DMK err, I will take appropriate action against them. I swear upon Arignar Anna and Kalaignar on this,’ he said.
Referring to concerns raised by floor leaders of several parties on the growing incidence of sexual assault on girl students and women, he said the government has build the confidence among the women that due action would be taken on all complaints given by them.
He said so far 2,363 POCSO cases were registered across the State. Of the 338 cases registered in Chennai city, chargesheets were filed in respect of 135 cases.
He said he had directed the police to expedite the trial in all these cases and said in one case filed at Royapettah Police station in the city on 19 May, 2021, chargesheet was filed in 23 days, trail was held and verdict was given in 82 days on 31 August, 2021, he added.
