Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin identities such as ‘Tamil’ and ‘Indian’ should only unite people and not become tools to hate others.
He attacked the opposition parties and claimed ‘that some people are attempting to divide the State on the basis of caste and religion.’
He took a dig at the opposition parties claiming that they are conspiring to divide the state on the basis of caste and religion by fuelling hatred and instigating people.
‘The people of Tamilnadu should realise this and act. Only a peaceful country can achieve all kinds of development,’ Stalin said.
The DMK president also reflected on his party’s political rival AIADMK’s approach toward the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) bill.
‘We made a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. AIADMK was voted in favour of CAA, but we not only opposed but also did a signature campaign,’ Stalin said.
On Sunday, addressing a grama sabha meeting at Sengadu village near Sri Perumbadur to mark the National Panchayat Raj day, he said that the people under local bodies will get all due facilities, irrespective of who heads them.
Stalin said that in the recent urban and rural local body polls in nine districts, the DMK-led alliance had come to power in 90 to 95 per cent of seats.
He, however, said that the government would not leave out the other five per cent, ruled by the opposition parties, as irrespective of the party in power, the State government would provide all assistance required including basic facilities, ration shops, etc to all the local bodies without any bias.
