Untill a few weeks ago, Hardik Pandya saw fortune’s fluctuating. He was out of the Indian team. He got injured and Mumbai Indians chose not to retain him. But things took a turn when he was picked to lead Gujrat Titans in IPL 22. He led from the front. He contributed with bat and ball. Eventually they won the title.
Hardik Pandyaās eagerness to learn as captain and his ability to effectively engage with his teammates contributed immensely to Gujarat Titansā title-winning run on IPL debut, said mentor Gary Kirsten, who coached India to the 2011 World Cup title. He was all praise for Hardik. ‘He has been fantastic. I have loved working with him. He is a high-profile player in India, but he is incredibly humble, wants to learn as a leader and engage with his players which I think is really important’.
Former wicket-keeper batter Kiran More showered praise on Gujarat Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya, saying that the star all-rounder has now become a four-dimensional cricketer. The best moment for me in IPL 15 was the way Gujarat Titans played cricket. It was outstanding. And especially Hardik becoming a captain and lifting the trophy, his personal performance was equally brilliant. Going from Mumbai Indians to Gujarat Titans? It’s not that easy to go and lead the new team and straightaway win the championship, Kiran More said.
