In a bold move signaling the intensification of political dynamics in Tamil Nadu, senior All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader KP Munusamy has thrown down the gauntlet to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Following AIADMK’s decision to sever ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Munusamy dared the BJP to field Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Dr S Jaishankar from any constituency in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming general elections.Amidst the fervor of preparations for the impending Lok Sabha elections, political parties in Tamil Nadu have wasted no time in launching into campaign mode. Munusamy, addressing a public meeting commemorating the birthday of the late former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Choolagiri, delivered scathing criticism against the BJP.
“Why did you make Union Minister of State L Murugan a Rajya Sabha MP? He should have been made to contest the election and face the people. Why was he not fielded because you (BJP) knew that he could not win? Then why are you deceiving people? I ask Annamalai and Prime Minister Modi on this platform. Two Tamils are Union Ministers. One of them is from Tamil Nadu. Another one was born and grew up in Tamil Nadu. They are External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Is BJP ready to field them in any constituency in Tamil Nadu?” questioned KP Munusamy.
