AIADMK leaders and their cadre are ready to face elections at any time, asserted party MLA Sellur K Raju (Madurai West) on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters in Madurai, Raju emphasized that the party is never fearful of elections, showcasing their confidence and preparedness.Raju’s comments come in the wake of AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami’s decision to boycott the bypoll in Vikravandi, scheduled for July 10. He explained that this decision was made due to concerns about the lack of democratic processes in Vikravandi, indicating the party’s stance on maintaining electoral integrity.
In his remarks, Raju also questioned a recent statement by EVKS Elangovan, Erode East MLA and senior Congress leader, who praised the ruling DMK by likening its governance to the era of former Chief Minister K Kamaraj. Raju expressed skepticism about whether Congress party members or the general public would accept such a comparison.
Challenging the DMK’s claims of growing strength and influence in Tamil Nadu, Raju posed a provocative question: why doesn’t the DMK contest elections without forming alliances? He argued that the DMK’s success in the 2024 polls was not a genuine victory but one achieved at a significant financial cost.
Raju confidently stated that if the DMK were to contest the 2026 election independently, the AIADMK would be prepared to do the same, hinting at a fair and direct electoral contest.
