London: In light of escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, both the United States and United Kingdom have issued urgent advisories for their citizens in Lebanon to depart the country immediately. The US Embassy in Beirut has released a security alert urging American nationals to book “any ticket available” to leave, even if flights are limited or do not follow their preferred routes. The embassy has also highlighted that financial assistance is available for those who lack the funds to return home, and cautioned that US military-assisted evacuations are rare.

British Foreign Minister David Lammy has similarly advised British citizens to “leave now” due to the deteriorating security situation. The UK government is working to enhance its consular presence in Lebanon but has stressed that citizens should take all available measures to exit the country promptly. The warnings reflect growing concerns about potential escalation in the region, where ongoing hostilities have intensified over recent weeks.

The advisory comes as numerous airlines have suspended or canceled flights, creating significant challenges for those trying to leave. The US Embassy has emphasized that commercial transportation options remain available and urged citizens to take whatever flights they can secure. It also warned that relying on the US government for evacuation support might not be feasible, as such operations are infrequent and may come with conditions.

As the crisis unfolds, both governments are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to adjust their advisories as necessary. For now, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of their nationals by facilitating their swift departure from the conflict zone. The situation underscores the high risks associated with the current geopolitical instability in the Middle East.
