Chennai: In a significant political move, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay unveiled the party’s flag and symbol on Thursday, marking a crucial milestone in his political journey.

Speaking at the event, Vijay emphasized the importance of collective effort in driving the development of Tamil Nadu, signaling his commitment to the state’s progress.

Addressing his supporters and party members, Vijay said, “I know you all are waiting for our first state conference. Preparations are on for it, and very soon, I will announce it. Before that, I unveiled our party’s flag today. I feel very proud… We will work together for the development of Tamil Nadu.”

The unveiling of the party’s flag is a significant step for TVK, which Vijay formally launched in February this year. The flag symbolizes the party’s identity and vision for a prosperous Tamil Nadu, with Vijay’s speech reflecting his dedication to this cause.

Before unveiling the flag, Vijay led his cadre in taking a pledge to uphold the principle of equality for all living beings. The pledge reflects the core values that TVK aims to promote under Vijay’s leadership. “We will always appreciate the fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives for the liberation of our country and countless soldiers who fought tirelessly for the rights of our people from Tamil soil… I will remove the differences in the name of caste, religion, gender, and place of birth, create awareness among the people, and strive for equal opportunities for all.

awareness among the people, and strive for equal opportunities and equal rights for all. I solemnly affirm that I will uphold the principle of equality for all living beings,” the pledge read.

Vijay also hinted at the upcoming first state conference of TVK, which is eagerly awaited by his supporters. While the exact date has not yet been announced, the preparations are reportedly in full swing. This conference is expected to be a major event in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, where Vijay is likely to outline the party’s strategies and plans for the future.

On the eve of the flag unveiling, Vijay released a press statement in Tamil, reflecting on the significance of this moment for TVK. “It is a great blessing if every day is a new direction and a new force in history. 22nd August 2024 is the day that God and nature have given us as such a blessing. It is the day when the flag, the main symbol of our Tamil Nadu Victory Club, will be introduced,” the statement read.

He further added, “Working for the welfare of Tamil Nadu, we will introduce our heroic flag, the victory flag, which will become the symbol of our state, tomorrow at our headquarters secretariat and release the association flag song. I am pleased to announce that we are hoisting the club flag.”

Actor Vijay’s entry into politics has generated significant interest, given his immense popularity as a film star. The formation of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February this year marked his formal plunge into the political arena. Since then, he has been actively engaging with his supporters and laying the groundwork for his party’s expansion.
