Following the incident at the Chennai Guindy Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, where Dr. Balaji, the Head of the Oncology Department, was stabbed by a youth, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal convened a meeting with senior police officials to discuss hospital security measures across the state.In the meeting, DGP Jiwal issued the following directives:
Enhanced night-time security must be implemented at all government hospitals throughout Tamil Nadu.
Additional police patrols should be assigned to these areas to ensure safety, and necessary police personnel should be deployed immediately.
Any untoward incidents should be promptly addressed and responded to.
Suspicious individuals observed in hospital premises should be monitored and escorted out if necessary.
To strengthen security, patrolling officers should maintain communication with hospital administrators and authorities.
Senior police officials must integrate these security measures into their daily operational duties.
These steps aim to reinforce safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.
