The much-awaited audio launch of Vanangaan was held in Chennai with grandeur. The film, directed by Bala, initially had Suriya in the lead role and as its producer, paired with Keerthy Shetty. However, creative differences over the storyline led to Suriya stepping away. Arun Vijay was later cast as the lead, alongside Roshni Prakash as the female lead.
The event also marked director Bala’s 25-year journey in cinema. Suriya and his father, actor Sivakumar, honored Bala with a gold chain for his remarkable contributions to the industry. Actor Sivakarthikeyan, present at the event, praised Arun Vijay, stating that Vanangaan would be a milestone in his career.
During the event, Suriya recalled his debut with Bala’s Nandha:
“I never smoked in my life, but for Bala, I practiced smoking 300 times for the shoot of Nandha. If not for Bala and Nandha, there would have been no Kaakha Kaakha or Vaaranam Aayiram. Bala gave me my first break.”
Sivakarthikeyan added that Bala’s Pithamagan breaking the myth of negative or tragic climaxes during Diwali inspired confidence in unconventional storytelling.
The film features a talented cast including Samuthirakani, Mysskin, Ridha, Chaya Devi, and others. With music by GV Prakash, cinematography by RB Gurudev, and editing by Sathish Suriya, Vanangaan is set for a grand release this Pongal, promising a riveting cinematic experience.
The film is produced by Suresh Kamatchi’s V House Productions along with Bala’s home banner, B Studios.
