AIADMK General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has strongly criticized the ruling DMK government, citing reports that 12 incidents of sexual assault occurred in the state in a single day. In a statement, EPS condemned the law-and-order situation under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s administration, calling it a moment of shame for the government and its allies.

“A Dark Chapter in Tamil Nadu’s History”
Palaniswami expressed deep concern over the increasing violence against women, describing it as a “black mark in Tamil Nadu’s history.” He lamented that Tamil Nadu, which has a rich tradition of honoring and protecting women since the Sangam era, is now witnessing an alarming rise in sexual crimes.

“The Dravidian model government should hang its head in shame. The safety and dignity of women are under threat like never before. The failure of the government to prevent such crimes and take strict action against perpetrators has emboldened criminals,” he said.

Government Accused of Negligence
EPS accused the Stalin-led administration of failing to enforce strict measures against sexual offenders, which he believes has led to an increase in such heinous crimes. He argued that the DMK government is focusing on political propaganda rather than ensuring public safety.

He urged immediate and decisive action to curb sexual violence against women and ensure swift justice for victims. He also called on the government to introduce stronger measures for women’s safety and take responsibility for the deteriorating law-and-order situation.

With crime rates becoming a key political issue in Tamil Nadu, EPS’s statement signals a renewed attack on the DMK’s governance ahead of upcoming political battles.
